Cilastatin 82009-34-5-a renal peptidase inhibitor

- Nov 23, 2018 -

Cilastatin is a renal dehydrodithione inhibitor, and its compound preparation composed with imipenem is a widely used broad-spectrum antimicrobial drug in clinic.

The molecular formula of cilastatin is C16H26N2O5S.The molecular weight is 358.45,The name is (Z)-7-[(2R)一(2-Amino-2-carboxyethyl)thio]-2-[(1S)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxamido]-2-hentenoic Acid.

Pale yellow amorphous powder, eilastatin is a dehydrodithione inhibitor developed by Merck Company in the United States. It can inhibit the metabolism of imipenem (imiPenem) in the kidney, increase the concentration of imipenem in the urinary tract, and reduce its nephrotoxicity. The compound preparation of imipenem-(Tienam) is especially suitable for co-infection of many bacteria and mixed infection of aerobic and anaerobes Renal peptidase inhibitor. In combination with imipenem, a carbapenem antibiotic, the activity of imipenem was enhanced because of its specific inhibition on renal peptidase. The mixture of cilastatin sodium and imipenem (1:1) is Tienan;Primaxin.
